Step-by-step instructions on using the CHERN Forum

Step 1: Create a username & password, which will be used every time you want to make a posting.

1. On the CHERN homepage (www.CHERNinfo.com), click "Forum" on the menu at the left...

this will take you to the forum mainpage.

2. Click on "Register", found on the menu bar at the top of the page...

a "Terms of Service" box will be shown - this is a note on appropriate forum usage such as unpleasant language, etc.

3. Click "I Agree to these terms" below the Terms of Service box

4. Enter a username, your email address (for forum activation purposes), and a password. Click "Save," then confirm your password and click "Save" again...

an email will be sent to your provided address.

Step 2: Activate your username

5. Open the email you received from "CHERN Forum" and click on the provided link to activate your account.

***Until you complete this step, your account is INACTIVE, which means you can only view but not post messages on the forum. ***

Step 3: Using the forum

VIEWING messages on the forum:

On the Forum mainpage, you will see broad categories of discussion topics.

Clicking on any category will bring you to the discussion topics. Clicking on a particular "topic" will enable you to see the individual messages posted for that topic.

POSTING messages on the forum: - ***YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN FIRST***

You may either create a new topic for discussion, or continue a current discussion by posting a reply to another user's message.

**First, make sure you are logged in - click on "Log in", located on the menu bar at the top of the page. **

Creating a new topic:

In the category that you want to create a topic, Click on "NEWTOPIC*" (in red letters)

Write your message (include a subject) and click "Send"

Post a reply to someone else's message:

Click on "POSTREPLY" (in red letters next to NEWTOPIC)

Write your message and click "Send"
